Daisy Ridley as Taeko in Only Yesterday

Only Yesterday –certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes garnering 100% at Tomatometer and 89% on audience score.

Written and directed by an Academy Award winner Isao Takahata and produced by the most revered Hayao Miyazaki; Only Yesterday is mastered with art revealing humor and stirring emotion. Only Yesterday is animated by one of the world's most promising animation studio- Studio Gibli. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Studio Ghibli produced English-language version, receiving national theatrical release.

The film was meant for adults; it is full of sorting life's retrospective themes that will simply go over children's ends. The movie made a couple of references to Japanese pop culture from the 1960's but just and right to make the film understandable.

Film Review: Review in a Nutshell

'The film's animation, on the other hand, succeeds strongly in emphasizing the film's themes and allows the film's plot, which transitions back and forth between memories and present time, feel seamless and distinctive; when the film showcases times of reflection, it does so with such accuracy in that when people think back, it never is as detailed as one thinks it is, we remember the significant details but the details in the background have faded and are represented here with a white glow. The scenes taking place during the present were provided with earth tones that delivers beauty in a much more natural way.'
